The pre-school is run by parents through a committee, which is elected annually at the AGM in the summer term. The committee consists of a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and up to nine others, most of whom are parents like you. A representative of the staff is usually present at the committee meetings.
The committee employs the staff, who are responsible for all the children in their care and the day-to-day activities. The help and support of parents is essential to ensure not only the continuing success of the pre-school, but indeed its very existence.
There is an expectation that all parents and carers of children attending the pre-school will contribute to its running through joining the committee and/or participating in fundraising events.
We are registered by OFSTED to offer early years education for up to 36 children daily. We have two rooms; the BeeHive room can accomodate up to 10 children aged between 2 and 4, and the Butterfly room can accomodate up to 26 children, aged between 2 and 4.
We are inspected regularly by OFSTED Inspectors. A copy of the Certificate of Registration is displayed on the notice board.
We are also a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, a voluntary body that is registered as an educational charity, and the Pre-School has adopted its constitution.
One Pre-School Manager, an Administrator, two Room Leaders and the necessary number of early years practitioners are employed by the committee and give a high adult to child ratio at each session.
Jack and Jill Pre-school is an equal opportunities employer. Each member of staff and each committee member is checked by the disclosure and barring service. Any new members of staff, while waiting for police checks to be completed are never left unsupervised with any child.
All staff undertake appropriate training to update their skills and underpin their knowledge and understanding of the needs of the pre-school.
The current committee consists of the following members. We are always looking for parents to help on the committee, so please let us know if you can spare any time to help the Pre-school.
